(Taipei / August 27, 2018) 2018 DigiAsia will take place from November 15 (Thursday) through November 17 (Saturday) at the Expo Dome of Taipei Expo Park. Launched in Taipei in 2014, DigiAsia has been one of the most iconic digital congresses in Asia. By bringing together representatives from various industries, including advertising, media, PR, digital services, and academia, 2018 DigiAsia will again make Taiwan seen on the world stage.
2018 DigiAsia, in collaboration with 2018 Meet Taipei Startup Festival, will feature dozens of keynote speakers from internationally renowned businesses, exhibitions of 300 startups and start-up supportive businesses, and 100 pitch shows. The three-day event is expected to attract over 68,000 visitors. Taking place at the Taipei Expo Park, the main venue for the acclaimed 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition, 2018 DigiAsia hopes to add another local flavor to the experience of our guests, in addition to the comfort of the 5-star accommodations. Group tours to startup labs and local themed lunch and dinner will also be provided, all to give our guests an unforgettable experience in Taipei.
The theme of 2018 DigiAsia is “Experience AI,” where the four topics of “AI x Industry,” ”AI x Media,” “AI x Technology,” and “AI x Creativity” will be explored. Audrey Tang, the Digital Minister of Taiwan, will open the event as the first keynote speaker, bringing perspectives from the government and engaging in discussions with the audience about the future development of AI. Audrey is known for revitalizing the computer languages Perl and Haskell, as well as building the online spreadsheet system EtherCalc in collaboration with Dan Bricklin. In the public sector, Audrey serves on Taiwan National Development Council’s open data committee and K-12 curriculum committee; and led the country’s first e-Rulemaking project. Audrey has served as the Digital Minister since Oct 1st 2016. In the private sector, Audrey works as a consultant with Apple on computational linguistics, with Oxford University Press on crowd lexicography, and with Socialtext on social interaction design. In the third sector, Audrey actively contributes to Taiwan’s g0v (“gov-zero”), a vibrant community focusing on creating tools for the civil society, with the call to “fork the government”.
